About Chicago Connection for Black Birthing Women

Who Are We?

Black women are 3-4 times more likely than white women to have pregnancy-related deaths, even when we control for income and level of education. The Chicago Connection for Black Birthing Women intends to maintain a Black space that will not be co-opted, but instead allows for Black people to be seen, heard, and organized to improve birthing outcomes for Black women.  This virtual space includes information about general health, pregnancy and birthing, resources, and linkages to black doulas, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals. Here at the Chicago Connection for Black Birthing Women, we aim to help inform Black Birthing Women and providers about the spectrum of care that Black women need and collectively lead the charge to change our maternal health outcomes!
